This website is an online portal to the past. Here you will find archival records, photographs, and written documents pertaining to Waterloo County, Ontario and the 118th Overseas Battalion, one of the local units raised during the First World War.
At present, the information on this website derives from the Lt. Col. W. Lochead Fonds which is held by the Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies (LCMSDS), at Wilfrid Laurier University. The material was digitized and this website created through a partnership with the Department of History, the Faculty of Arts, and LCMSDS with funding from the Wilfrid Laurier University Special Initiatives Fund. Over the next three years we plan to add newspapers, letters, diaries, and other documents to the collection.
If you have any family documents or photographs that would help shed light on the experience of Kitchener-Waterloo during the First World War, we encourage you to get in contact with us.
